The stones used in house-building before were from the mountains and not from the river. “Unlike cement it was so strong that it could withstand an earthquake”, recalls Karma. Nails were made of bamboo or species like bajrath (Xanthoxylum sp.), there were no metal nails then. Many roofs were made of planks from dhupi (Cupressus torulosa) trees, but it was not affordable to all.
