Singchung & Tenga

Dorjee Glow

Dorjee Glow and his family ran to what is now known as the ‘helipad ground’ above Singchung in 1962. They received a letter that China had retreated, but they feared that India would bomb the area. They waited till things settled down and then returned to their village. The Indian army setup base in these areas after the 1962 war between India and China. They had firing ranges nearby and shelling injured some residents while fatally wounding others. It was then decided that residents who lived in the smaller hamlets nearby would all come together and settle in Singchung valley. Thus Singchung village was established in 1972.
